As I said when I named Battle of the Bulge the Wargame of the Year, it seems a little strange to make such a grandiose pronouncement about a title that’s only been out for a week. But here I sit, surrounded by the bounty of December’s game releases and the thing I keep coming back to is Battle of the Bulge.
In my review, I said that Battle of the Bulge was a new standard for mobile gaming, and I really meant that. Shenandoah’s debut is almost technically flawless while presenting a completely one-of-a-kind design. It will be decidedly more difficult to give a five-star review to any game released in its wake.
The only reason it’s not the outright Game of the Year is the one game that offered a multiplayer experience of greater depth and flexibility – but it was a close-run thing.
