Qingyi | Zenless Zone Zero

Zenless Zone Zero's Qingyi is a fierce fighter from N.E.P.S. who wields a unique, three-section staff, but what else do we know about her?

Zenless Zone Zero’s Qingyi is a quirky officer working for the New Eridu Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. With her hair tied up neatly in two pigtails and her terribly innocent face, it’s easy to underestimate her – but be warned, she comes with a wealth of life experience that not only means she can dish out some great advice, but she can also dish out some fierce justice on the battlefield. Here’s what we know about her so far.

If you’re wondering how Qingyi and her fellow N.E.P.S. members size up against the other factions, be sure to check out our Zenless Zone Zero tier list. We’ve also got a guide to all the new Zenless Zone Zero codes and current Zenless Zone Zero events, so you can start stashing those tapes in preparation for the next Zenless Zone Zero banner.

Who is Zenless Zone Zero’s Qingyi?

Qingyi is a member of the New Eridu Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Special Response Team (quite the mouthful, huh?). We first got a glimpse of her during the pre-release special program, where she briefly shows up alongside other N.E.P.S. members Zenless Zone Zero’s Zhu Yuan, Seth Lowell, and Jane Doe.

According to her entry in the New Eridu archives, she has a wealth of experience and often dishes out advice to others, and her agent record shows a quote from Zhu Yuan stating that “Qingyi’s composure stems from her wealth of life experience!”

However, it seems that Qingyi’s behavior can sometimes be a little… odd. Another quote from her agent record suggests that she licked a lost watch before giving it back to a citizen, and a rookie patrol officer implies that you can always find her by looking out for a cloud of piping hot steam. No, we’re not entirely sure what either of those quotes are implying, either.

Who are Qingyi’s voice actors?

Qingyi’s English VA is Kira Buckland, an American voice actor with an impressive roster of roles under her belt including Jolyne Cujoh from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Nier Automata’s 2B, Genshin Impact’s Kuki Shinobu, Mitsuri Kanroji from Demon Slayer, and many more.

Qingyi’s JP VA is Abo Maria, who you may recognize as the voice of the Cookie Run Kingdom character Hot Scovillia Student, and her CN voice actor is 皛四白, who also voices Wuthering Waves’ Encore along with multiple Arknights characters.

Qingyi build speculation

We don’t have much info on Qingyi yet, but from what we’ve seen so far we’d guess that she’s an S-rank character. We’re unsure of her element, attack type, or role at the moment, but in the footage from the pre-release special program and her splash art on the official website we do get a good look at her weapon.

In the splash art, she appears to be wielding a modified version of a three-section staff, which is a Chinese flail weapon that consists of three staves connected by metal rings or rope. Also known as the coiling dragon staff, it’s often associated with martial arts and used as an extension of the wielder’s arms, allowing them to strike, flail, block, choke, trap, disarm, and whip. Wielders can also use the chains and different sections to entangle an opponent and their weapons, and its articulation is useful in striking over or around enemy shields.

However, Qingyi’s staff looks a little different to your traditional three-section staff. In the pre-launch special program, she appears to be able to connect the three staves and wield it as one long polearm. Additionally, each section seems to have a police baton-like design, and the ends have interesting metal segments that are almost reminiscent of a cattleprod or taser.

Therefore we think it’s likely that Qingyi’s fight style will see her quickly switch between close- and mid-ranged melee attacks – and, if our theory about the taser-like ends to her staff is correct, she may be an electric agent who dishes out stun attacks, similar to Zenless Zone Zero’s Anby. Of course, we’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as we learn more about Qingyi, and we’ll add a full build right here when we get the chance to try her out for ourselves.

That’s all we’ve got on Zenless Zone Zero’s Qingyi for now.
